Before many projects can be carried out in New York City, surveying and monitoring must be completed prior to construction & must compliant with the TPPN 10/88
Technical Policy.
The Technical Policy and
Procedure Notice # 10/88 (TPPN 10/88) of the New York City Department of Buildings (NYCDOB) requires for surveying and monitoring of all landmark buildings located on a 90’
radius of a job site in New York City. Vibration Monitoring Equipment and Existing Conditions Photographic Surveys are the steps and procedures needed to take when it comes to complying with this
strict construction code.
Initial construction phases, primarily demolition and foundation work, are known to create and emit vibration shocks that affect nearby structures, where Landmark buildings, due to their years of existence, might well be significantly affected. As a result, building vibration and crack must be monitored.
Vibration Monitoring may, and is mostly used, for some of the following construction activities and/or scenarios by using Wireless Vibration Monitoring or Manned Vibration Monitoring:
Monitoring is provided to ensure that no negative effects are caused by the construction process. Vibration and Displacement Monitoring are particularly critical when
performing underpinning activities, site excavation, or other soil work as part of the foundation construction and design.
Data analysis and evaluation are performed immediately following data collection in order to calculate displacements. Vibration peak particle velocity is constantly monitored to immediately determine
extents of movement and displacement relative to the predetermined criteria. The project team is notified immediately of any exceedance outside of the predetermined limits. Ultimately, KnF Team
provides the client and the project team with the information necessary to conduct the project work in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner with minimized impacts to neighboring
properties.
